Ontario Tech acknowledges the lands and people of the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation.

We are thankful to be welcome on these lands in friendship. The lands we are situated on are covered by the Williams Treaties and are the traditional territory of the Mississaugas, a branch of the greater Anishinaabeg Nation, including Algonquin, Ojibway, Odawa and Pottawatomi. These lands remain home to many Indigenous nations and peoples.

We acknowledge this land out of respect for the Indigenous nations who have cared for Turtle Island, also called North America, from before the arrival of settler peoples until this day. Most importantly, we acknowledge that the history of these lands has been tainted by poor treatment and a lack of friendship with the First Nations who call them home.

This history is something we are all affected by because we are all treaty people in Canada. We all have a shared history to reflect on, and each of us is affected by this history in different ways. Our past defines our present, but if we move forward as friends and allies, then it does not have to define our future.

Show your alumni pride with official merchandise

Alumni Fleece Blanket

If you haven’t heard, we have our own line of Alumni branded merchandise. We always have a merchandise booth at our events, but we also do giveaways and online sales.

One of my favourite new products is our branded fleece blanket. Even though summer has arrived, this blanket is perfect for those late nights around the campfire or for a picnic with your friends and family. You can pick up one of these lovely blankets for just $35 online now!

Another product I use every single day is the bistro mug. It’s the perfect size for coffee, tea, or hot cocoa and marshmallows in the winter months. They also make a great gift for a friend who is starting their first ‘career’ job or pursuing a post-grad and in need of some late night java! But, because these mugs are so exclusive, you can only pick them up at alumni events. Check out the online store today to view all of our available merchandise including T-shirts and hoodies!

We want to see photos of your alumni merchandise in action! Share them with us using #AlumniAdvantage or tag us @UOITalumni.
